From the Acting Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,

We are almost at the end of what has been a very full term. I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to all the staff for their great work this term and for supporting me in the last three weeks of the term as Acting Principal at St. Johns. I extend my gratitude to the entire St. John’s community who have helped out in any way at the school.  St John the Apostle School is an amazing school and community, and it is the dedication, commitment and hard work of the staff and the support of parents and other family members and volunteers that make it so. We should feel very proud of our wonderful school!

.I would personally like to thank the school community for all their support with Masses and events we have had throughout the term. Your help is invaluable and very much appreciated.

Finance Information

2019 School Fees

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

The third and final school fee statements were sent home with the students earlier this term.  If you have opted to pay your fees Per Term, this payment will be due by Friday 27th September 2019 unless prior arrangements have been put in place through the Finance Department.

If your current direct debits will not cover the fees for 2019, you will need to contact Lee-Anne Clark in the Finance Office to amend the current authority.

If your account is in credit and you have a Direct Debit in place, you have one of two options.  You can continue on as per normal and your account will be in credit for 2020 or if you would like to have the debits ceased you will need to notify the Finance Office to have the Direct Debit authority cancelled.

Other payment options available are EFT, Cash, Cheque, BPAY or Credit Card.

If you wish to discuss your fees or any of the payment plans above, please do not hesitate to contact the Finance Office and Lee-Anne Clark will be happy to work with you.

Indonesia Trip 2019

Donna Moyle, Justin Marsh and Simone Mashford will be travelling to Java, Indonesia during the School holidays as part of the CESA Engage with Asia Program.  The program is administered by Catholic Education SA and includes a number of Catholic Primary and Secondary schools who had previously established partnerships with schools in China. Donna Moyle, our Indonesian Teacher at St John’s was invited to join the Program as the first school to establish an Indonesian school partnership.

The upcoming visit has been funded by the Catholic Education Office of South Australia, and will involve our teachers visiting our partner school and undertaking some planning to support our collaboration which will allow students from both schools to learn more about our respective partner school, language and culture.  A number of Skype sessions between our two schools have been undertaken and have provided our students with an authentic experience and interaction with students of a similar age group in an Indonesian classroom.

Our teachers will be visiting all three campuses of our partner school and meeting with principals, teachers and students.  We will observe classes and interact with students in question and answer forums.  In addition, we will visit a number of local sites such as the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral, Wayang (puppet) Museum, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta Museum and Ancol Marina.

We are pleased that two teachers and six students from our partner school will be visiting St John’s from November 9th - 16th this year.  They will be visiting our classrooms and visiting various South Australian landmarks to gain a better understanding of our local culture.

We would like to thank Ludgero Rego for his support and assistance to make this invaluable opportunity possible for our school.
