Year 3 continued...

On Sunday 11 August we hosted the Family Mass at St Luke’s Church. It was great to have families and friends support our Eucharistic celebration and the children who made their First Holy Communion participate at this joyous and beautiful celebration.

The annual Book Week Parade was held in Week 5. The children came dressed as their favourite Super Heroes or a book character and it was great to see so many smiling faces.

As part of Religious Education, Health Education and MITIOG, the children have been exploring strategies for looking after their physical, emotional and social selves while gaining an appreciation of the different needs of the various stages of growth and development and how to manage change.

The children have discussed how their words and actions need to show tolerance, love, kindness and understanding to everyone they meet not just their friends.

As part of MITIOG the Year 3s have worked on a Timeline Assignment and were very pleased with their presentations.

The Years 3 & 4 students have been participating in the PAT R & PAT M tests over the past weeks.

In Science our topic is ‘Spinning in Space’ The Year 3 students learnt about the Earth’s rotation and Day and Night. This was followed up in STEM, where the children worked on models of the Sun, Earth and Moon, showing how the earth orbits the Sun and the Moon goes around the Earth. They also watched the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing on ABC T.V.

Year 4 continued.....

We had an amazing time where we were challenged physically, mentally and emotionally. Activities included the Giant Swing, the Flying Fox, the Low Ropes, Climbing Wall, Cubby Building, Bridge Building in the creek, Archery and Mud Obstacle Course. We pushed ourselves to our limits and surprised ourselves on what we could achieve when we put our minds to it. Using our Resilience, Persistence and Confidence keys we attempted all challenges, encouraging each other along the way with our Getting Along Keys. We built on our existing friendships and even made some more, playing games at night-time and just hanging out in our spare time (of which there wasn’t much).

None of us went hungry as they served us 3 main meals each day and 3 snacks a day with a constant supply of fresh fruit for those that were extra hungry.

For many of us, it was our first time sleeping away from home. But we did it!
