Indonesian Highights

12.12.19

Students from both schools researched traditional food and drinks from their respective countries and designed a poster.  Their poster was shown during their skype session and they presented their research in the target language.

During the September school holidays Simone Mashford, Justin Marsh and myself were fortunate to be awarded a grant to attend our partner school in Indonesia.  During our time there we were able to learn more about our partner school.   Through our meetings with students and teachers we were able to gain an insight into the educational approach used in our partner school.  We were also able to answer many questions that Indonesian teachers had about how we approach a range of issues in our own school.   We were also able to discuss plans for our collaboration for 2020, which will include research by students and online interaction via Skype in the target languauge.

In November two teachers and six students from our partner school visited our school.  During their stay students visited our classrooms and were able to interact with our students.  Our students were able to ask our visitors questions about themselves and their lives as students in Indonesia.  The Indonesian students were also able to interact with St John’s students to teach some traditional games that are played by Indonesian students at lunch and recess times.
