I thought I would start off by telling you a little about myself. I am highly motivated and enthusiastic with an enormous passion for teaching. I have over 18 years teaching experience in Catholic Education, three years teaching in London and two years in DETE.

I am extremely excited working about with the St John the Apostle Parish School community.

For the past eight years, I have been working at St Teresa’s Catholic School, Brighton in the role of Physical Education Coordinator and Year 4/5 Teacher.

Last year, I was appointed the Acting APRIM at St Raphael’s – Parkside for 2019 and took over as APRIM of St Teresa’s – Brighton for the final two terms of the year. In 2017, I worked at St Catherine’s - Stirling as the Acting APRIM.

I am currently studying my Masters of Educational Leadership at ACU (Australian Catholic University).

I have been raised as a Catholic and I am an active member of the Brighton Catholic Parish. I attended Sacred Heart College where I was a School Prefect, Sacred Heart College Middle School and Stella Maris.

My wife and I have two children. Our ten year old daughter, Skyla and five year old son, Kailani.

I am really looking forward to getting to know you all. Please feel free to introduce yourself or call into my office for a chat anytime. My door is always open.

St John the Apostle Parish School Year 3 to 6 Welcome Mass – Tuesday 4 February

On Tuesday 3 February, we celebrated our St John the Apostle Parish School Year 3 to 6 Welcome Mass.

The purpose of the Mass was to celebrate the beginning of a new school year, the love God has for us all and our unique qualities. To ask God for a full year of learning and reaching our full potential and beyond. We also asked The Lord that St John the Apostle Parish School continues to be an enriching environment that sees Christ’s light shine in all of us as we join together to work in unity and respect with one another.

The Reception to Year 2 classes will be celebrating their Welcome Mass next week with Fr Selva on Tuesday 11 February.

Family Mass and Commissioning of St. Johns Staff

St John the Apostle is a Parish school and throughout the year we regularly host family mass at St. Luke’s church, Noarlunga Downs at the Sunday morning mass.  Children’s liturgy is offered every Sunday morning at St. Luke’s.

The Year 3/4 classes (Mrs Maillard, Mrs Clark and Mrs Wheatland) will be assisting Mr Mulcahy in coordinating this special celebration in our parish and all families and children of St. John’s are invited to take part.

This mass will include a Rite of Commissioning of Staff where the staff of St. John’s will publicly commit to serving the parish and school community.  We hope you will join us on this Sunday morning.

Ash Wednesday Mass – Wednesday 26 February

St John the Apostle Parish School will be celebrating Ash Wednesday with Fr Selva at 11:30am on Wednesday 26 February. This whole school Mass will be celebrated on the school oval.

We continue to hold victims of the terrible bushfires in our thoughts and prayers following the terrible experiences the victim have had to endure, and conscious that the possibility of further risk remains.

Administrator Delegate Fr Philip Marshall has invited parishes to provide ashes from the affected areas to be mixed with others and made available to parishes throughout the diocese who wish to share in this act of solidarity.

Fr Philip Marshall shared with the parishes that Lent is a time of repentance and renewal, of turning to God, each other and to creation in restored relationship. The inclusion of the ashes from the recent fires will be a sign of our solidarity with our communities and of commitment to build a world of Easter hope for all.

Sacramental Program

I am very excited to be joining our Sacramental students and families in their Sacramental journey. Information about the Sacramental Program will be sent home in the next week. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

God bless,

Jamie Mulcahy - APRIM (Assistant Principal Religious Identity and Missions)
