From the Principal

10.12.21

Whilst we were presented with challenges due to COVID-19, many of our usual events were able to continue with a couple of cancelations for incursions that were fortunately able to to be re-scheduled.

Some of the highlights of our year include:

  • Winning the athletics carnival
  • A whole school production at Hopgood Theatre
  • Largest number of students involved in after school sport
  • School disco’s
  • Student leadership opportunities
  • Environmental leaders’ Program with Jeremy Gramp from Green Adelaide
  • Sporting schools’ grants that have enabled a number of sporting schools programs to be facilitated for our students
  • Reconciliation week celebrations
  • Nature Play Day
  • Children’s University

Lots has been happening in our school!

The school board have been a wonderful support to me this year and I sincerely thank them for their advice, guidance, and input as we increase access to technology for all our students at St John’s and begin the process of reviewing our master plan as we look at the needs of our school moving into the future.

I would also like to thank all our wonderful staff for everything they’ve done for our school this year.  It is the collective work of every single person at St John’s that helps our school to achieve all it does.  I am very grateful for the support of you all.

Sadly, this time of the year is also where we farewell some of our staff.   Three incredible teachers Loretta Wheatland, Caitlin Button and Amy Brockman, our Administration Officer Lee-Anne Barnard and Nicole Philipson our OSHC coordinator will finish their time with us this year. Though a couple may be back if we are lucky! We thank these wonderful staff for their commitment and professionalism to the students and our community.  St John’s has benefited so much from their work here and we wish them every happiness in their future endeavours.

Last night our year 6 students graduated from primary school.  It was a beautiful celebration, and our graduating students go with our love and best wishes as they move into secondary education in 2022, we look forward to hearing about their achievements in future years.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a wonderful peace filled Christmas with much happiness and joy.  Thank you for making our school such an incredible place to be.

Warm regards,

Leanne Johansen
